Perfection. The word that makes our life, women’s life more and more difficult these days. There are an ever-increasing number of segments in our life where we have duties to perform otherwise we fail in the eyes of society. Not only we have to be the perfect housewives, we have to accept the challenges in our workplace as well, stay in the competition with our male counterparts who – with a few exceptions – don’t have to worry about the shopping list after they leave their desk at work.
At the same time, as we are the women, we should preferably have a perfect appearance 24/7, we always have to be fit, trendy and beautiful. Sadly, we live in a world where the highest value is on physical perfection. Every day, perfectly symmetrical, toned and beautiful faces and bodies from the billboards, magazines and instagram are trying to tell us that we have to look like we run 15 miles per week, we have a wardrobe like the chief editor of Vogue and that we have a face like one of the supermodels. If not, it means that we fail with our life.
Dove has long been the ambassador of real women saying that perfection is simply a myth and we rather have to be accomplished by our capabilities and not our look. To encourage us, in their recent campaign, Dove collected some badass girls from all over the world who share with us how they redefined their own beauty, how they accepted their flaws and how they didn’t let negative comments stop them from achieving their goals. So women from all over the world, it’s time to listen to Dove and learn that flaws are actually making us beautiful and unique and nothing can stop us from getting what we want.
